Razek had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and P.T.S.D., and at the time I met him he was undergoing treatment at a mental-health clinic in Kabul. According to the U.N., around seventy per cent of the Afghan population suffers from mental illnesses, from depression to schizophrenia. There are only six psychiatrists for the whole country.
